WHAT
Potential for provision of green buses in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
HOW
From 2026 to 2035, Hanoi will change its bus fleet to half electric and half LNG/CNG under its recent ambitious green bus conversion plan with the investment of nearly 2 billion USD.
- From 2026 to 2030, a total of 1,813 fossil-fuel buses are expected to be converted.
- Early 2025, four bus operators are currently undertaking procedures to invest in and pilot five bus routes with 76 electric buses.
- Total investment plan is approved by Hanoi People’s Committee with a total budget of 1.95 billion USD in which private sector will contribute 26%.
- Business Sweden in Vietnam is building up a transportation and mobility initiative. This aims to keep Swedish companies informed and facilitate early engagement with key stakeholders in charge of potential opportunities in transportation sector.
