In 2022, the UAE economy had its fastest growth rate in over a decade, gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to have increased by 7.6 per cent despite the global economic slowdown.
The political leadership of the United Arab Emirates emphasizes that greater financial inflows to the UAE is the result of long-term efforts to diversify the economy as well as the recent efforts to deepen trade relations with strategic partners by concluding free trade agreements.
In addition to its role as a direct trading partner, the UAE is an important regional hub for Swedish companies. Many regional business opportunities are generated in the UAE, and a significant part of trade with Swedish products goes through the country.
Most of the respondents, 77 per cent, indicated that they perceive the business climate in the UAE as good or very good; this is an increase from the previous study with 10 per cent.

ABOUT THE SURVEY
Business Sweden carried out this survey that tracks how Swedish companies operating in the Emirates perceive the market conditions and the economic prospects of their business. The survey also tracks if and how the views diverge across company types.
Conducted during March and April 2023, this survey seeks to understand the perceptions of economic and market developments and what opportunities and challenges Swedish companies are facing.
We hope this study will bring insights that can support both companies currently operating in the market and those planning to establish themselves in the UAE, and as always, we stand ready to support all Swedish companies with an interest in the Middle East.
