- Infrastructure Development: Vietnam has ambitious plan for billion-USD investments in infrastructure development including both transportation infrastructure and digital infrastructure.
- In fact, according to World Bank, Vietnam is positioned 47th out of 160 countries in infrastructure rankings. As FDI pours into Vietnam, the current demand for better, more efficient and smart infrastructure is alarming.
- In terms of transportation infrastructure, the Vietnamese government has approved a plan to spend US$43-65 billion on building and upgrading road, rail, inland waterways, sea, and air transport infrastructure between 2021-2030. Notable projects under construction are North-South Expressway project USD and Long Thanh International Airport Project with total estimated investment of 16 billion USD.
- Regarding digital infrastructure development, Vietnam is actively promoting digitalization and has launched several initiatives to accelerate the country's digital transformation. The government is introducing billion-USD programs such as "Vietnam Digital Transformation" and various Smart Cities Initiatives. Prioritized areas are public security, digital government and public services, smart database management, smart urban management/IOC, and smart buildings. National ambition is to build up at least one intelligential operation center per city up to total of more than 80 IOCs throughout the country.
