Supporting Singapore’s smarter and greener port ambitions with Swedish solutions

what

The new Tuas Port “A Smarter and Greener Port” is a significant mega project in Singapore that will be developed in four phases over 30 years. When completed in the 2040s, the Tuas Mega Port will have a handling capacity of 65 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), almost double the volume of 37.5mil TEUs handled in 2021. For comparison, the current Pasir Panjang Terminal has 37 berths with a handling capacity of 34 million TEUs annually. As such, Tuas Port will be the largest single container terminal in the world occupying up to 1,337ha of land.

Phase 1 of the project was completed in 2022, involving more than 450 companies. Work for Phase 2 commenced in 2018 and is more than halfway through. For Phase 3, planning has also started.

For Swedish companies, this project signals great opportunities for increased sales through supply of equipment to the port, strategic positioning as key partners in the future of port operations and potential collaborations with other local stakeholders in the maritime space in Singapore.

how
  • As the aim is for Tuas Mega Port to be established as the world´s largest fully automated container terminal, which is also intelligent and sustainable, Swedish companies pioneering solutions in the areas of automation, digitalisation, connectivity and sustainability would be key partners in this journey
