- Changi Airport is a renowned air travel hub seen as the global industry leader that currently operate four terminals with a handling capacity of 90 million passengers per year. With Singapore´s ambition to further strengthen its position as a regional hub for business, transportation, and innovation it was decided in 2013 to build a new Terminal 5.
- The Terminal 5 project is undertaken by Changi Airport Group, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, and the Ministry of Transport and is one of the most significant infrastructure projects globally and is expected to cost ~101 billion SEK. In terms of handling capacity T5 will add an additional 50 million passengers per year, when completed in the mid-2030s.
- Tenders have been called since March this year and is expected to carry on for the upcoming years as the expansion projects gears up.
- Swedish solutions are renowned for being market-leading in terms of sustainability both in the traditional sense of emissions output, as well as in terms of product lifecycles. Hence opportunities in the airport expansion are also present for Swedish companies capable of providing solutions in the areas of:
- Design, consultancy, construction, and installations for the terminal building and airfield substructure, superstructure, and other supporting airport infrastructure
- Air traffic management solutions including dual-use airspace management
- Airport operations in airside, landside, as well as frontend to backend operational needs
- Sustainable aviation fuel as Singapore gears up towards the planned transition to sustainable fuel as part of the Sustainable Air Hub Blueprint
- Safety and security solutions especially those capable of providing robust cybersecurity while ensuring user privacy.
Call to action
- A HPO programme that has already begun since late 2023 aimed at promoting Swedish innovation in the airport space, while enabling companies to build on their networks and explore collaboration opportunities
