- Korean food and beverage companies are expanding their portfolios for plant-based and sustainable products as a new growth engine.
- Demand for healthy food is mentioned by more than 50% of Korean food consumers, up from 28% in 2020.
- The number of vegan food products have increased with CAGR 180% between 2018-21. Although it is a familiar trend in Sweden, it is only recently that vegan and zero-additives products have been gaining spotlight in South Korea where the companies are actively searching for international products.
- Meanwhile Korea is highly dependent on food imports, especially for agricultural and livestock products, EU-ROK FTA and organic equivalence arrangement facilitates Sweden-Korea’s bilateral trade.
- According to Seoul National University’s Asia Centre on the study of Korean’s favourability on countries, Sweden ranked second after the United States. Sweden has built positive branding and reputation in South Korea where the companies can fully utilise in market entry.

Join Business Sweden for the Nordic Food Fair delegation to South Korea in furthering the market competence and in creating concrete business opportunities via business matchmakings with the leading retailers, importers and distributors and network with the stakeholders in the Korean food ecosystem.
We are partnering with Business Finland the Embassy of Denmark in South Korea in leveraging a wider network and hosting the event in a bigger scale. The program consists of market presentation, retail visits, a whole day of pre-arranged business matchmakings and a networking reception. By joining the program, Swedish food and beverage companies will:
- Facilitate at least 5 business meetings with the relevant leading retailers, importers and distributors, such as Shinsegae, Hyundai, Lotte, Samsung, Emart, Homeplus and etc.
- Develop new contacts with stakeholders in the Korean F&B ecosystem, including the food association, companies and Swedish players in the market.
- Higher Korean F&B market competence with a presentation by an industry KOL and retail visits.
Business Sweden Seoul welcomes Swedish food and beverage B2B and B2C companies to the program in South Korea.
