- Tunnel construction in India has picked up pace in the past 4 5 years on account of an increased number of projects involving longer tunnel lengths, and in some of the difficult terrain condition.
Electrification of Infrastructure Equipment
- Govt. of India has taken initiatives to encourage usage of BEV equipment in infrastructure projects to reduce emissions.
- All major global construction equipment manufacturers have developed supplier base, are scaling manufacturing, and have launched electric models in last 1-2 years.

- Planned projects of ~1300 Tunnels of length 3600 KM across India in Railways, Roads, Urban Transport, Irrigation etc.
- In current tunnelling projects, major Swedish companies are part of EPC consortium because of the expertise and equipment. There is opportunity to showcase capabilities and position Swedish companies with key decision makers.
Electrification of Infrastructure equipment
- Govt of India to incentive companies who develop equipment in India and help in supplier development.
- Standardization of equipment specifications is ongoing and going forward “make in India” specific clauses on electrical products expected in future infrastructure related public procurement.
