1,000,000 new hospital beds

WHAT
  • Did you know that there would be an increase of almost 1,000,000 hospital beds in Vietnam until 2030, and another 1,000,000 in the next 20 years?  

 

HOW
  • During 2021-2030, total investment in new hospital construction and upgrading of existing hospitals in Vietnam will reach SEK 112 bn: Central government: 44.2%, Provincial: 31.9%, ODA: 23.9%.   
  • According to the recently approved Healthcare Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, this means the construction and upgrading of 8 central hospitals, 38 regional hospitals, and 7 CDC centers.  
  • This would also result in the increasing need for capacity building and internal process reinvigoration as leading public hospitals are aiming at international standards.  
  • Swedish industry and organizations can contribute to the development and enhancement of the healthcare infrastructure projects in Vietnam by acting as a gateway to the Swedish healthcare model through high-quality medical technologies and services as well as access to the financing tool through EKN, SEK and Business Sweden is forming the Sweden-Vietnam Health Alliance, which is a framework for a bilateral collaboration, driven by Team Sweden and industry partners and focused on:
    • Capacity building and upskilling programs in several therapy areas.
    • Supporting Vietnamese government with healthcare digitalization effort.
    • Contributing to the development and enhancement of the healthcare infrastructure in the country.

Join the Sweden-Vietnam Health Alliance which serves as a collective effort to promote Swedish expertise in healthcare and life science.  

Exploring and facilitating commercial opportunities for Swedish companies in the healthcare sector in Vietnam. The concept of the Alliance has been endorsed by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam in November 2024.
